This week’s Driver Spotlight is on Mike Menist (Tractor 759)

Mike has been a part of the Pohl Transportation Family since 2005. Before his 18 years of driving for us, Mike drove a box truck making deliveries for a furniture outlet. Mike first heard about Pohl Transportation in the local newspaper in Muncie, IN. He said Pohl gave him a chance when no one else would.

A few things Mike said that he really enjoys about working for Pohl Transportation is that we keep all the equipment up to date, the turnover rate is low, and he has really gotten to know a lot of people. Mike states that the staff at Pohl knows you by your name and you are not just a number, and that we keep a positive atmosphere here. Mike said he has seen many changes in the technology and transportation industries; the main being paper logs to electronic.  He said paper logs use to be easier, but now the regulations have tightened down and you have to be on your guard. When Mike first started driving, there was no GPS or navigation systems; he would have to call dispatch and ask for directions. Now, Mike loves that you can see a whole overview and visual of where you are heading to.

Mike’s advice to current, new and potential drivers is that safety should always be your #1 priority. He also said to be sure to communicate with dispatch with any issues, they will work with you to help resolve it the best they can.  He advised to not be shy about telling dispatch about an issue.

Thank you, Mike, for being a part of the Pohl Transportation Family.
