A Historical Timeline of Pohl Transportation, Inc.
1957 – Harold Pohl graduates from National Schools at Los Angeles, CA with a degree in Auto, Diesel, and Allied Mechanics.
1957 – Harold Pohl begins career in trucking at Subler Transfer in Versailles, OH as a shop mechanic.
1964 – Harold Pohl purchases his first 5 trucks and leases them to Subler Transfer.
1980 – Harold named service manager at Subler Transfer.
1981 – Harold founds Harold J. Pohl, Inc., a tractor and trailer repair facility.
1982 – David Pohl, Harold’s oldest son, begins working at Harold J. Pohl, Inc.
1991 – Pohl Transportation, Inc. started.
1994 – Maintenance building is expanded by two bays and to accommodate 53’ trailers.
1998 – New office building completed.
1999 – Pohl Logistics founded.
1999 – Brian Pohl, Harold’s youngest son, begins working at Pohl Transportation.
2003 – Becca Pohl, Harold’s youngest daughter, begins working at Pohl Transportation.
2007 – Harold Pohl celebrates 50 years in trucking.
2008 – First Volvo’s purchased. Pohl’s fleet is now entirely Volvo.
2008 – Bob Epperly, Pohl Transportation’s general manager since its founding, retires.
2013 – Harold Pohl retires from trucking.
2015 – Pohl’s entire Volvo fleet contains automatic transmissions, Bendix AutoVue Lane Departure Warning System, Vorad (radar which audibly warns the driver if too close to an object and allows adaptive cruise control), and Volvo anti-roll technology.
