Rod has been a part of the Pohl Transportation Family since 2009. Rod heard about Pohl from his neighbors Brad and Brian that used to work here (and that we miss immensely!). Rod then contacted our Recruiter Wally Parke for more information, and has worked here ever since. Before getting into the Transportation industry in 1994, Rod was a mechanic in the early 90’s.
The greatest change that Rod has seen in years of driving is all the new equipment and trucks. When Rod made the move from paper logs to e-logs, Rod thought he wouldn’t like e-logs, but he does now. Rod really enjoys how you can simply message and talk to dispatch directly through People Net. Rod enjoys working at Pohl because he says they are easy to work with, and he truly enjoys what he does. He says the paycheck and the people here are all nice, too.
Some advice that Rod would like to give to current, new, and potential drivers is to not be afraid to call your mentor. Also, be patient and understand that things take a while to get adjusted to. Lastly, he emphasized on how valuable communication with dispatch or anyone in the office is. Rod left us with his favorite place to stop and eat: Chester Fried Chicken, which you can find at Love’s! And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Rod loves turtles (thus, his nickname)!
Thank you, Rod, for being a part of the Pohl Transportation Family.
