Jay has been a part of the Pohl Transportation Family since 2009 and has over 16 years of driving experience. Before going to school to get his CDL, Jay did warehouse and manufacturing work for homes. Jay first heard about Pohl Transportation when he saw an ad in the local newspaper under the help wanted section, but also knew a few guys from another company that left there to work for Pohl.
One of the biggest changes Jay has seen in his years of driving is going from paper logs to e-logs; he said it definitely took a bit to get used to. With today’s economy increasing and more people on the road, Jay said parking can now be a hassle. When it comes to PeopleNet, there are great improvements in the navigation that he likes, along with the messaging icons. Jay said that all of the safety features on the trucks have also really come a long way.
Jay loves that Pohl is a small company where he knows other drivers and the dispatch well. He appreciates that everyone takes care of his personal needs and home time that he communicates to dispatch. Jay values that Pohl has been increasing our pay to keep up with the demand and to compete with other companies, and our longevity pay is a great plus.
Some advice that Jay would like to give to current, new and potential drivers is to have patience and great communication. Jay feels common sense goes a long way and that safety is the most important thing. Jay leaves us with his favorite meal that he likes while in the truck; he uses a foreman grill outside to cook steak on, then microwaves sides to go with it. Yum!
Thank you, Jay, for being a part of the Pohl Transportation Family.
